Carnival Court 2011/12During the first half of the 20th century Bishopstoke Carnival took place in September and included candlelit floats on the water at Riverside. This carnival was last held in 1957 but after Bishopstoke Parish Council was formed again in 1996, one of the first actions of the new Parish Council was to help to also restart Bishopstoke Carnival.
The committee is a varied group of enthusiastic volunteers which includes representatives from the local churches and organisations, Parish and Borough Councils.

In memory of the original Bishopstoke Carnival it is still held in September and includes a River Float competition.

As well as the parade and fete on Carnival Day the Carnival Group also hold pub quizzes over the summer and autumn and have a grand raffle which is drawn at the end of the Carnival Fete. The Carnival Group aims to have a fun day for all residents of Bishopstoke and to raise money to help groups in Bishopstoke. The Carnival Group meets on the 3rd Monday of every month at 7:30pm in Meller House lounge throughout the year to plan the next carnival and anyone interested is welcome to come and get involved.
